Uffie - MCs Can Kiss
Her trademark near spoken flow is strangely alluring...
If you’ve managed to bypass the Uffie hype-train thus far then her track titles ('Ready To Uff', 'Pop The Glock', 'Hot Chick') tell you pretty much all you need to know about the sassy Parisian. Her latest track is produced by label-mate and advert sound-tracking electro maverick Mr Oizo who manages to successfully blend mutant disco (think Electric Six 'Danger High Voltage' meets Daft Punk) with old school hip-hop breaks to create a cheeky, playful little number which even has the audacity to include a not entirely convincing saxophone solo.
By her own admission she’s “an entertainer not a lyricist” so the casual mix of throwaway rhymes and lyrical props don’t come as any surprise. Her trademark near spoken flow however is strangely alluring and whilst this lacks in depth it overflows with a spirit of carefree fun and abandonment. Another triumph for the ever youthful starlet and a warning to the copycats that the original rude-girl is well and truly back on the scene.
