Like William Blake’s friends, these tigers are burning bright. Tigercats have hunted, prowled and attacked the indie and pop genres and forced them to cooperate in their vivid new song, ‘Full Moon Reggae Party’.
The single is buoyant and Tigercats have weaved it through with momentary flashes of jubilant mbaqanga in the guitar melody. It never once takes the burden of its genres too seriously, instead choosing to take the best that each offers and crafting a track that's more textured than you would expect. Lyrics like 'I heard you stole a van, we've got some fake Gaugin's' create perfect juxtaposition against the fast, relentless melodic energy of the song.
‘Full Moon Reggae Party’ is exactly what indie-pop should be: insane fun.
Tigercats' album 'Isle of Dogs' will be released on April 9th.
