Lostprophets - It’s Not The End Of The World..

The two beacons of Wales' alternative rock scene - Funeral For A Friend and Lostprophets - have both been flickering recently, lingering largely outwith of the mainstream's fickle consciousness. Lostprophets indeed enjoyed superstar status in years gone by, but much like the valleyed landscape of their homeland, their activity and output has peaked and troughed, but going by 'It's Not The End Of The World, But I Can See It From Here', they're back on the up again.

It's pretty typical Lostprophets - big riffs, and an even bigger chorus. The guitar motifs merge the gothic leads of Avenged Sevenfold and the spike of Billy Talent before settling into a plunging whirlpool of a chorus that makes for the song's highest peak. Ian Watkins does however croon the words 'baby' and 'darling' within the space of mere seconds, diminishing any sense of lyrical credibility, but ignore those two cringes and there's a meaty rock song in here begging to be heard.
