Kelly Rowland: ‘Kisses Down Low’ review

We're not the only ones to note Kelly Rowland's new obsession with bedroom songs, but it's starting to get a little out of hand. Our 'Independent Woman' has turned into a 'Nasty Girl'.

'Kisses Down Low' doesn't mask its meaning in subtlety. This is unmistakably a 'bedroom banger' to bring people — ahem — 'closer' together, because the lyrics are obsessed with getting blokes to go Petula Clark on their ladies.

Kelly's banger asserts itself with thunderous percussion, and it's the dominance of that percussive beat that puts the song in the same style as 'Cry Little Sister'. She snaps your attention any time your mind might just be wandering off.

This is a saucy little number from an artist determined to shake her good girl image.
