Boy Crisis - The Fountain Of Youth

On 'The Fountain Of Youth', NYC natives Boy Crisis have created an heart-achingly average disco-pop track. While there's a wealth of potential within the quirky vocals and some classic guitar riffage to open, we are simply left thinking that it's all been done before – the synth patterns, the beats... everything. It all just seems like a repetition or rehash of a formula that has been used time and time again by other acts of the moment including MGMT and past stars including The Faint and The Postal Service to name just a selection.

What is on offer here is an established package and there's no one moment that really stands out from the rest on this single. If you enjoy the aforementioned but also have a penchant for indie-music a la Hot Hot Heat then this is worth at least a listen, but to the majority this will just seem generic. It should be said that the musicianship displayed on this tune is not to be questioned and that the band certainly have a wide commercial appeal when concerning their other material, but this track will not be the one that catapults them into the hearts and wires of electro boy and girls the world over.
