The White Stripes - Conquest

The White Stripes. Since Jack White went all Hulk and smashed up the Von Bondies frontman screaming (allegedly) "I made you, and I can break you" has anyone liked the guy? And what with his old penchant for pretending his ex-wife is his sister...

Well, however odd he may be, The White Stripes still make mighty fine indie/blues/rock. Although this time there's a Latino flavour to proceedings. Mariachi trumpets blare out like a border flare up as Jack tries to smuggle some Mexican musicians over the fence. It's all rather good, and if something this unusual (by mainstream standards) can hit the charts, then there's hope for anyone. Sadly though, as clever as White may feel he's being with the trumpets, he stupidly ruins it all by (in true White Stripes tradition) creating an amazing video that makes the song forgettable in comparison.
