The Metros - Education Pt. 2
Posted 13th Mar 2008 in Single Reviews, The Metros by Graham Drummond |

Think too hard about what you're listening to here and the fun will disappear quicker than your school days. 'Education Pt. 2' is a cheesy, gusto-packed romp that's as cliched as they come. It's a bloody good time as well. Although the five 18 year olds that make up The Metros cite a melting pot of influences such as punk, rockabilly and even funk, there's no denying this release from the cheeky Peckham youngsters is straight up, guitar focused rock 'n' roll. Using the same matter-of-fact humour that graced many a release by the Supernaturals, there's no way to keep a straight face when frontman Sauly blurts out "a GCSE in music, don't know how the fuck I'm gonna use it." We've all asked the same.
Some will be put off by the full-on Sarf Lahndan assault and others worried that it might not go the distance, but with an infectious, upbeat tune like this in the bag, who really cares?
