The Kills - U.R.A. Fever

VV and Hotel (aka Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince) have now seen fit to release the first single to be taken from the forthcoming full length, and it's a track that finds these arch-minimalists in good voice.

Stripped to bare essentials of beat-box, brooding synth bass, and a ring tone that stops just short of irritation, this is dark blues but in a style less typical of their work to date. With a bass line naggingly similar to 'Dub Be Good To Me', a sullen lead drawl that nods to both Tricky and Hughy Morgan and an addictive slow-clap chorus, 'U.R.A. Fever' is trip hop that drips with the confidence of a band who have found their comfort zone to be outside fads and fashion, and long may they be rewarded for that.
