The Kills - Tape Song

The Kills deserve to be recognised for consistently producing beautifully minimalist garage rock for three studio albums and the best part of a decade. Latest album 'Midnight Boom' has predictably received the most attention and features 'Tape Song', a slinky little number reminiscent of The Strokes' 'Is This It', with repressed emotion quivering behind Alison Mosshart's poetically distressed double-layered vocals and Jamie Hince's sparse spurts of guitars.

'London Hates You' is a softly gloomy little B-side which starts like The Ronettes' 'Be My Baby' before going on to list all the major cities that don't really like the cut of your jib. The Kills make lovely lo-fi post-punk rock and are definitely more than just a famous pretty face.
