The Las Vegas indie giants are back with the fantastic single 'When You Were Young', and it's more proof - as if it were needed - that The Killers can create massive anthems, which almost everyone is bound to like, even just as background music.
'When You Were Young' is such a powerful, instrument-thrashing song with Brandon almost shouting "he doesn't look a thing like Jesus/but he talks like a gentleman", which is the best Killers sing-a-long lyric since "I got soul/but I'm not a soldier" (yes, you sang along to that one too, we all know you did). With other emphatic lyrics like "we're burning down the highway skyline" it will take a strong person not to grab a hairbrush and mime along.
If this single is anything to go by, and it probably is, the forthcoming album 'Sam's Town' is going to be a brilliant follow-up to 'Hot Fuss'. Despite some dodgy facial hair, Brandon and co really have returned with another great Killers song to energise the airwaves.
