The Fratellis - Ole Black ‘n’ Blue Eyes

Mainstream indie favourites The Fratellis hit back with their newest effort in the form of single 'Ole Black 'n' Blue Eyes', and it's really not bad at all.

The song starts with a little upstrummed guitar, a punchy drum line and some vocals which instantly remind of days gone by. There's a huge Beatles influence at work here - the retro edge is undeniable and it works totally in favour of The Fratellis. There's an upbeat and optimistic edge to the entire record and you'd be made of metal if it didn't leave you with just a small smile on your face.

Of course, that's all after the first or second listen - the major downfall of this song as a single is that it has a tendency to become quite boring after a few spins. That's a totally subjective opinion though, so the recommendation is to give it a listen and see if it has staying power enough for you.
