The All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret
It's upbeat, rocky with a typically catchy, if corny, chorus, yet this really seems like one for the fan base only.
This actually sounds quite interesting for the first 20 seconds. Then Tyson Ritter opens his mouth and it turns into a song that sounds like a million others from American punk/pop/rock bands.
Oklahoma's The All American Rejects' new single 'Dirty Little Secret' almost feels out of place with the current musical climate in the UK at the moment. Ok, Green Day are as popular as ever, and My Chemical Romance are making teenagers as whiney as ever, but I'm sorry to say guys, this is so] 2003. There doesn't seem to be quite the buzz about American rock music in this country when we have the likes of Maximo Park and Kaiser Chiefs flying the flag, so it really has to be something ear-catching.
There's nothing exciting about this. It seems such a tired format, a group of guys in their early 20s peddling teenage angst like they were A. It's upbeat, rocky with a typically catchy, if corny, chorus, yet this really seems like one for the fan base only. 12/09/05Matt Oakley
