Sunny Day Sets Fire - Adrenaline EP

Not since Explosions In The Sky has a band sounded so much like their moniker. Sunny Day Sets Fire display their brand of exuberant electro-pop over the course of their 'Adrenaline EP'.

The multi-national four-piece provide a sugar rush of boy/girl vocals, casios, handclaps and drum machines with some of Stereolab's gallic flair, only without the Krautrock cool. There are nods to Of Montreal too in the unobstructed sense of mayhem.

The title track is twee, but not irritating, as the listener is coaxed along but the all-pervading sense of fun. 'Lack Of View' is somewhat more subdued and 'The Rescue' is a hazy, more introspective, number lifted by some menacing keyboards that add a sense of paranoia to the underlying fluff.

So if you're looking for a less self-conscious or try-hard Teenagers, or like your pop with plenty of fun but without the cheese of Alphabeat, this could be your band. They certainly sound like they'd be enormous fun live.
