Plugs - All Them Witches

The music scene of recent times seems to be awash with electronic acts, each looking to usurp one another with the newest spangly synthy sound or an otherworldly vocal effect. Good news then when something along these lines comes our way but still engages our ears, and this is exactly what Plugs do on this exciting little number.

'All Them Witches' opens with swirling Nintendo-esque blips and bleeps before launching into a verse that's indebted more to rock music than video game soundtracks. There's real catchiness here, from the rustic chord progressions to the floaty electronic twirls on the pre-chorus that'll stick in your mind like gum. And yes, this is one of those fine specimens where the pre-chorus is just as catchy as the chorus. There's even more juice left in the song to squeeze out; look for the lunar vocal breakdown near the end of the song for another audio treat. But the whole song is one big treat really, and should probably be heard unless you're hard of hearing or suffering from a similar aural ailment.
