With backing singers who sound oddly reminiscent of Yoko Ono on 'The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill', Los Campesinos! return, with an offering which proves itself in the end to be everything that a pop single should be. It's quirky, punchy and short, positively bubbling up with energy and enthusiasm, and you get the impression the various members were falling over themselves in their eagerness to get to the mic-stand. In places it's so exuberant that you can only assume they were bouncing up and down on the spot while they were recording it.
With lyrics as suggestive as "you said 'send me stationary to make me horny'/ so I always write you letters in multicolour/ decorating envelopes for foreplay", it seems to tell the tale of an ill-fated love affair conducted over that most unreliable of mediums - the Royal Mail. The thought of Her Majesty's face being licked, stamped and pressed on top of such filth frankly makes this reviewer disgusted. However, the overall charm and infectiousness of this regal little record should see them avoid the Tower. Indeed, it has to be said, one is impressed.
