Little Joy - No One’s Better Sake

Having established the song had nothing to do with preferring a certain type of Japanese rice wine, I was pleasantly surprised to hear an intro that sounded like a contemporary take on Toots And The Maytals' classic 'Monkey Man'. So much so that I had to go and listen to it straight after 'No One's Better Sake' had finished.

But back to the job in hand, and you can clearly pick out The Strokes sound of multi-instrumentalist Fabrizio Moretti, one third of Little Joy. I think more or less all of the aristocratic New Yorkers have done their solo thing in the past couple of years and clearly, the drummer doesn't want to feel left out. A good thing too, because this is a great addition to the pop spectrum, and would be a must-have in any compilation made for a barbecue, with its airy optimism and reggae leanings.
