La Roux - In For The Kill

Pop is great, don't fear pop music. When done right it's one of the most powerful beautiful joyful creations known to man. It's only when the word is linked to factory-made pop like Steps and Whigfield is when it leaves a bitter taste in many people's mouths, but in its purest sense it's golden. The Beatles were never afraid to be called pop music, so why should bands like Franz Ferdinand or The Killers have to be referred to as indie? La Roux is genuine great pop, and should be played to as many people with working ears as possible.

With its polished production and a starlight vocal courtesy of Elly Jackson, La Roux prove that they are the only reason to hit the dance floors. 80s synth pop at its most glorious, if this isn't in top ten lists at the end of the year then it's going to be a fantastic year for music, as this is the most exciting single around.
