Kate Nash - Foundations

Since last year and the rise of Lily Allen, it's been difficult to get away from the street-sounds of UK hip-pop. It's no surprise that her success would spawn copy-cat acts, and much as it's painful to admit, Kate Nash is a very similar artist to Miss Allen.

Her first single since her signing to Fiction, 'Foundations' is definitely a catchy number - the beat is solid, and whilst it's clearly unoriginal, it is a commendable effort and this girl clearly has a lot of talent. There's not too much to say about instrumental arrangements on this one; there's a nice piano accompaniment to a catchy sampled drum beat, carried along by some acoustic strumming for effect.

Lyrically we see yet another Lily Allen-ism in the form of the song being an open letter to a badly behaved boyfriend; meaning that those who enjoyed songs like 'Smile' will certainly find something to relate to.
