Jesse McCartney - Leavin’

As if Akon wasn't bad enough, we now have a 21-year-old Aaron Carter look-a-like stealing the awful concoctions of the former and moulding them into yet another forgettable mainstream r 'n' b/hip hop mess that will no doubt depart from our lives quicker than it entered.

Over-produced and lacking any lyrical value, 'Leavin'' is riddled with cringe-worthy statements: "man, that thing you got behind you is amazing" and "Call your shorty and tell him you found a new man" are actually two of the better lines. It's not all McCartney's fault though; sadly this is what really sells across the pond (and to some extent in the UK). It's a further shame that watered-down, unintelligent, patronising shit like this means a lot of people miss out on some of the truly vital hip hop and urban music that is being forged by non-mainstream acts in the US today.

Need further reassurance that 'Leavin'' is the annoying, mindless drivel that this critic would have you believe? McCartney was the voice of Theodore in Alvin And The Chipmunks. Nope, not as a little boy many moons ago in the 90s TV show - in the movie version that was released this year.
