Go:Audio - Made Up Stories

A record that is very easy to pick on but sadly it's impossible to do anything else. Some of the most contrived and pathetically unimaginative music you're ever likely to hear.

Go:Audio - Made Up Stories

Some bands have terrible names but make great music - Elbow and Arctic Monkeys to name but two. However there are also bands with terrible names and terrible music - The Pigeon Detectives spring to mind. It is sadly the latter category that Go:Audio fall into, and 'Made Up Stories' is all the proof you need of just how wretched they are.

The most staggering thing about this record is that the band hails from London of all places, that's presumably not London that is in California? "The saddest thing for maeeee" goes the singer in the emotional bit in the break. Why do bands think it's a good idea to sing in these preposterous fake American accents? Fall Out Boy vocals sit upon an all too familiar template of stop-start feather weight guitars, meanwhile a few synth lines are flung in (because keyboards are cool at the moment right?). The lyrics appear to have been written to accompany the forthcoming video treatment for the single which will no doubt feature lots of artfully constructed haircuts, pouting and the band really rocking out and meaning it, possibly in some kind of house party setting.

All told, 'Made Up Stories' is a record that is very easy to pick on but sadly it's impossible to do anything else. Some of the most contrived and pathetically unimaginative music you're ever likely to hear. To any Go:Audio fans, all that can be said is that hopefully it's just a phase.
