Foals - Red Socks Pugie

Foals - Red Socks Pugie There's no denying it - Foals are universally known as a Cool Band. Guitarist and singer Yannis Philippakis currently holds 45th place on the NME Cool List (higher than Patrick Wolf and Carlos D, no less). Skins has been all about Foals - as 'Standing In The Way Of Control' became massive after being featured in an advert for the slightly unrealistic teen drama, so did Foals' infectious earlier single 'Cassius'.

And so it is, then, that we approach 'Red Socks Pugie', the third single from debut album 'Antidotes', expecting no less than innovative, arctic-temperature genius. While it's interesting enough - all rolling drums, echoing keyboards and dreamy, lazy vocals - it has none of the instant appeal of 'Cassius'. Foals: cool they may be, but consistently good? Perhaps not.
