With all the critical praise from the who's who of the music media Emiliana Torrini surely should be massive. Sadly her fame hasn't reached Madonna proportions as yet, which means she is still the best kept Icelandic secret around. Having already sung on the Lord Of The Rings soundtrack and with several albums under her belt, hopefully her time is now.
'Jungle Drum' is a sprightly, fun little gem, reminiscent of Nancy Sinatra in her heyday. Emiliana has so much fun on this record, full of hand clicks and everyone's favourite word of the week "rakatungtungrakatungonburubummbumbumm". Backed up by a Bo Diddley rhythm and bass groove, it's virtually an impossibility to not foot tap along. This is infectious Scandinavian pop.
