Brinkman - I Wish

Refusing to slip into any category other than catchy and indie, this EP is something that just has to be heard.

'Change It' is indie pop harking back to the days of Dodgy and Cast, being upbeat and oozing summer. With "oohs", "aahs" and harmonicas it happily dances its way into your ears and jumps around there for a few minutes.

The title track 'I Wish' sounds more modern, along the lines of The Zutons. With a repetitive guitar riff and chord progression it is simple yet classic.

Changing again, 'Pillow' is a poppy 60s love song vocal style mixed with guitars and drums. "I'm having the time of my life, the one thing that stops me is the space on my pillow" - yes it's sickly sweet, yet done with their tongue firmly in their cheek.

Finally, just when you thought they couldn't come up with something else, the drums kick in for 'Curse Of The Girlfriend'. This time though, it admittedly isn't as different as the others seem from each other.

Big things are being tipped for Brinkman, and with a support slot for Travis at their comeback tour, you could well be hearing more from them if they keep producing music like this.
