If I had a penny for every article mentioning the so called 'Canadian Invasion' then I'd have given up all of my day jobs a very long time ago. Whilst the likes of Metric manage to hit all the right musical buttons, Born Ruffians fail to ignite anything like that sort of passion.
'Hummingbird' is an off kilter guitar centred track with frenetic shouty vocals and lyrics weaker than the winner of Mr Muscle 2008. Their cover of label mates Grizzly Bears' 'Knife' shows greater promise, turning it into a Sixties tinged Merseybeat number complete with hilarious false ending. Though in an oversubscribed market there is little to distinguish these Toronto lads from the musical masses.
