OneRepublic beat The Vamps to UK number one after heated chart battle

Despite a close battle for number one, OneRepublic have beaten The Vamps to the top of the UK singles chart with 'Counting Stars'.

The single beat the boyband with just 1,150 copies in the closest chart battle of 2013 so far and left The Vamps' 'Can We Dance' at a respectable second place finish tonight.

Jason Derulo drops from the top of the chart, falling two places to number three in its third week on the chart, and Katy Perry's 'Roar' drops to four.

Chase and Status' 'Count on Me' also charts high at number five and pushes Avicii's 'You Make Me' to number six. Demi Lovato's 'Skyscraper' enters the top 10 for the first time following repeated use on The X Factor recently, finishing at seven. It peaked at 13 previously.

Drake's 'Hold On, We're Going Home' drops to eight, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' 'Same Love' is at nine, while Dizzee Rascal and Will.i.am complete the top 10 with 'Something Really Bad'.
