Chris Brown looks set to put the past behind him with his first UK number one single.

Brown's 'Turn Up the Music' is currently at the top of the UK midweek chart, knocking Katy Perry's 'Part of Me' from its seat at number one.

A controversial figure since assaulting Rihanna, Brown has had a love-hate relationship with the media in recent years, but his fans have passionately stood by him.

Sean Paul remains at number two with 'She Doesn't Mind', while Katy Perry slips to number three and Gotye drops to number four with continued strong sales.

Nicki Minaj holds strong at five with 'Starships' and Plan B's 'iLL Manors' enters the chart at number six.

Jason Mraz sticks at number 15 with 'I Won't Give Up' and Jessie J's 'Mamma Knows Best' creeps in at number 40 thanks to Saturday's The Voice UK.

Over on the album chart, Madonna is on track to bag herself another strong number one with new album 'MDNA'.

All will be revealed on Sunday...
