Download Festival are following Reading & Leeds' lead and are banning "flags on sticks" in the main arena for the event this year.
Posting on the festival's official forum, the festival director explains: "Due to an overwhelming number of complaints from people and now we have had chance to view the footage from previous years and can see what everyone means (and not see the acts on stage!), we will be banning flags on sticks in the main arena. Hope you all understand that this is to ensure that everyone can enjoy what's on stage."
Regular music-loving festival goers: One. Drunken flag-waving louts: Nil.
Not really sure why it's taken them so long to notice the problem, mind. Have they not tried to watch the stage previous years?
The festival will take place from 11th - 13th June at Donington Park in Derby. Playing will be: Them Crooked Vultures, AC/DC and Stone Temple Pilots.
