Since news of James Horner's death broke this morning, celebrities have been paying tribute. Now Celine Dion has spoken out to thank the late composer for playing a key role in building her career.
Celine wrote: "Rene and I are deeply saddened by the tragic death of James Horner. He will always remain a great composer in our hearts. James played an important part in my career. We will miss him. We offer his family and friends our deepest sympathy."
After composing 'My Heart Will Go On', James was convinced that he had to have lyrics and a big voice to sell the scale and power of the song. He asked Celine Dion to record a demo and waited until James Cameron was in a good mood before playing it to him. It went on to sell over 15 million copies worldwide and helped cement Titanic as a global smash.
Songwriter Diane Warren also praised James: "RIP James Horner. Thank U for the beautiful music. We will miss what beautiful music was yet to come."
