The BBC has announced plans to create a drama about Boy George, commissioned as part of BBC Two's Eighties season.

It will star Mathew Horne (Gavin And Stacey, The Catherine Tate Show), Marc Warren (Hustle, Mutual Friends), Mark Gatiss (The League Of Gentlemen, Crooked House) and newcomer Douglas Booth, though they haven't said what roles they will be filling. We're presuming Horne will play the starring role though, as he's pretty make-up friendly.

The show is entitled 'Worried About The Boy' and is about "a young Boy George and his journey to become a star on the Eighties fashion and pop music scene." None of his 90s and 00s arrests, community service or jail time, then.

Written by Tony Basgallop (Hotel Babylon), and directed by Julian Jarrold (Red Riding, Brideshead Revisited), filming begins in Manchester this month and it will be shown in Spring.
