Stevie McCrorie's 'Voice UK' win and subsequent top 10 debut single looked as though they spelt the end of the talent show's so-called 'curse'. But one week on, it looks as though The Voice is still struggling to create a legitimate star. Stevie's debut single – a cover of Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine's 'Lost Stars' – has slipped out of the UK top 40 after reaching number 6 last weekend.
The track is currently languishing at number 68 despite his high-profile win and some pretty strong airplay over the past week. An insider at the label says they're looking at the bigger picture and Stevie's upcoming debut album, so they're not too concerned with his single's chart position. Though this doesn't bode well for his album's release later this year.
