War Child Album Delayed
The November release postponed until 2009 due to the overwhelming response from bands.
The release of War Child's 'Heroes' album has been postponed until 2009.
The compilation album was due out on 22nd November, but due to the eagerness of bands wishing to contribute to the project, the release date has been put back to February 2009 to include them.
The record currently features artists such as Paul McCartney, Duffy, Brian Wilson, Hot Chip, Beck and The Kooks. 'Heroes' lets music legends choose a song from their back catalogue to be covered by a modern-day artist - also chosen by them. For example, Beck was asked by Bob Dylan to cover 'Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat'.
In a statement, War Child said: "We have been overwhelmed and amazed by the response to the project. The wealth of talent who have contacted us wishing to support the charity and contribute to the album is humbling and we are delighted to have been able to change our deadlines to accommodate some of them. It was impossible to say no."
Paul McCartney explained his involvement with the charity: "I have been supporting War Child since 1995. Their work with children in war zones saves lives and their work with those who take decisions that help them to do something about it saves even more lives." McCartney invited Duffy to cover 'Live And Let Die' for the album.
