Red Hot Chili Peppers are to start work on their new album this October.

Drummer Chad Smith told Billboard that the band plan to get together following a two-year break: "It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready. You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway."

Red Hot Chili Peppers last album was 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium'.
