LA's The Procession are here as main support to Switches on their UK tour, and both share a love of the feel-good vibe. Whereas the headliners are much more of the classic Britpop era, The Procession are straight from 1960s California.

However, the eight-song set isn't all sunshine and flowers, as the foursome are prone to turning into rock monsters in a flash. British-born guitarist Greg Jong, with his shaggy mullet and axe-wielding posturing, ensures proceedings don't get too wet and Magic Numbers-like. He is clearly missed by friends and family, as cheers ring out when he dedicates 'MTV Song' to "the Jong clan".

Jong is matched by keyboardist and vocalist Paul Zawacki for sheer enthusiasm, whilst looking less rock-like and more preppy - a reminder of US indie like The Shins. The motley bunch works, and they put over a stream of well-received songs like previous single 'Don't Hesitate'.

Latest single 'Major And Minor' is just one of the gems from the 'Musique Magnifique' album that shines tonight with the band's infectious energy. The keyboard-led track gives Zawacki the chance to really let rip, and the result is a hugely enjoyable kitsch romp.

Closing number 'Don't You Wish' sums up the band perfectly - the Beach Boys-esque song leaves everyone in the 100 Club full of fuzzy warmth. The impact is even more impressive when you note that this is the first time the band have played in the UK - we look forward to more visits.
