More dirty blues-infused rock from The Black Keys on 'Oceans And Streams' - a rueful southern fried tale of regret or a song about water that sounds like it was constructed in the desert? Well, both.
There is spooky organ aplenty and Danger Mouse takes a 'less is more' production ethos that certainly complements the 'Keys' sound. As riffs lumber and lurch, frontman Dan Auerbach sings of "death on the road tonight". It's just the kind of twisted tale that you’d expect from The Black Keys, Auerbach bemoaning his loss of control: "my aim used to be so true/my web had a space in it just for you", and you can tell he means it.
Although not the poppiest single you're likely to hear this week, 'Oceans And Streams' will find its way back in to your head when you least suspect it, and that has to be a good thing.
