In a recent interview with The Automatic, frontman Rob Hawkins said that they "really didn't want to do the screaming thing again", referring to ex-keyboardist Pennie - who performed some memorable vocal histrionics during his time with the band, giving them a gimmick at least to stand out from what feels like the never-ending stream of identikit indie acts.

But abandoning this interesting (some might say irritating) aspect of their style has worked out really well for the boys. 'Steve McQueen', the first release to be taken from upcoming album 'This Is A Fix', is getting ubiquitous radio play, and while their subtly tweaked heavy-ish commercial rock sound isn't anything groundbreaking, it does possess more maturity and even depth in contrast to the stuff they were putting out a couple of years ago.

So nothing jaw-dropping here, but they're definitely travelling in the right direction. If you like your guitars taut and crisp, seasoned with a shouty chorus and contained within three and a half minutes of quarter-life crisis angst, then this'll do you nicely. Well, we can't all be pioneers, can we?
