Donington delinquents Late Of The Pier hit us with their latest release 'Heartbeat', a potentially potent chart challenger from start to finish. There's nothing new to listen to here - we've heard it all before - but that doesn't stop it being a perfectly decent track. The pace is blistering, the vocals edgy, the synths sexy and the length perfect to the millisecond. Think of the thoughtful song construction of the now defunct I Was A Cub Scout mixed with the grandeur and pomp of US electro rockers Stellastarr* and you'll have a pretty good idea of the sound Late Of The Pier are making. It's not big, it's not smart, it's not clever but it does have that dance floor energy so many bands fail to muster.
This reeks of electro indie disco hit and as a result it'll be gladly received by anyone sick of cliché riddled UK guitar tripe - just don't go picking it up expecting to stumble across anything genre defying.
