Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke has been left with facial injuries after an "unprovoked racial attack" by members of John Lydon's entourage.
The altercation took place at this weekend's Summercase Festival in Spain, where Sex Pistols were appearing. Okereke has said in a statement that he approached Sex Pistols frontman Lydon and asked if he would ever consider reforming Public Image Ltd. Okereke claims Lydon responded in an "intimidating and aggressive" manner, and "his entourage responded with a racist tirade including the statement, 'Your problem is your black attitude'."
The subsequent fight involving Okereke and three members of Lydon's entourage was broken up by Foals' Yannis Philippakis and Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson, who stepped in to help. The police in Spain and the UK have been notified of the attack.
Okereke went on to say: "It's not an issue of the physical assault, even though it was an unprovoked attack, it is the fact that race was brought into the matter so readily. Someone as respected and as intelligent as Lydon should know better than to bring race into the equation, or socialise with and encourage those who hold such narrow-minded attitudes."

Hey why don''t you reform Public Image because this lot are shite" SMACK. It wasn''t because he was black it was because he thought he would get away with making a smart ass insult to someone who''s boots he isn''t good enough to lick. It isn''t the first time Bloc party has used his blackitude to get PR.

Paul, isnt this a school night? Get to bed sonny and let the adults talk. You not got an NF meeting after school? Or just trying to be controversial like Lydons' lot? Sex Pistols/PIL were VERY poor and only had success due to the countries economic situation at the time, reformed now - they'd die on their arses! Hope youre ok Kele.
