Label: Transgressive
Release Date: 02/06/08
Rating:

Rollicking guitar, staggered drums and a wonky piano lead into Jeremy Warmsley's salty tale of love on the high waters and Emmy The Great provides an equal amount of vocals in a song that is outlandishly enjoyable. It's time to start wondering if Warmsley is taking the piss when the accordion hits, but pastiche or not there is no denying it's a fun ride.
'Temptation' is the second A-side and is a much more traditional affair (if you care to argue that songwriting is more historically relevant than pirates). A piano-driven piece that exudes skillful delivery, it's how Keane might sound if they were prone to cheery outbursts. Warmsley's voice is much more engaging the second time around, but overall it's an interesting, competent release.
