After the exhilarating 'Get Over It', Guillemots have come to sooth us with a marvellous piece of laid back sunshiny pop. Fyfe Dangerfield's tremendous voice is the centre-piece of the track, tender yet powerful and surely one of the most fantastic sounds in music today. Dangerfield is backed by a rich, confident arrangement that is testament to the ambition displayed throughout their 'Red' album.
'Falling Out Of Reach' is perfect Sunday morning music, in the vein of, well 'Sunday Morning' by Velvet Underground. There are shimmering organs, gospel backing vocals and gliding strings. Guillemots have the uncanny knack of being able to make grown-up pop songs whilst never in danger of sounding middle of the road. Lyrically a tale of on tour detachment and homesickness, 'Falling Out Of Reach' is surprisingly uplifting and manages to instil a blissful sense of tranquillity in just under four minutes.
