What's left to say about Duffy that hasn't already been said? Not that much to be honest, and in a comforting way it's fairly simple to guess what you're about to hear when her latest release vanishes into the CD player.
Cue the unobtrusive strings, stable beat and the pleasant vocals all mixed up with a big sprinkle of nostalgia. The inoffensive, middle-of-the-road stylings of 'Warwick Avenue' will please fans and Sunday morning mums alike. The latter may well enjoy it more though, the sepia-tinted tones reminding them of a favourite song from years gone by.
You can't blame Duffy for her 'sounds familiar' approach however; the music is simply a vehicle for her effortlessly cool voice. There are only so many times she can recycle the past to her advantage though, and while 'Warwick Avenue' is not completely stale, it would be nice to hear the songstress break out of the slightly cramped Pandora's Box she has settled down in.
