"I didn't know you were into Gary Numan" was the comment from a colleague after hearing 'Space And The Woods' in the car during the commute home. He couldn't have come up with a more apt comparison - the down-tuned electro synth rock of the first minute or so absolutely reeks of the electronic pioneer. Factor in the deep vocals, paranoia and the opening line "suicide is in my blood, it always was" and this surely can't be an accident on behalf of Late Of The Pier. It's not all doom and gloom though, the ruling verdict being that the lads have tongues placed firmly in their respective cheeks.
'Focker' is a worthy addition, its screeching electronics and buzzing guitars arguably equating to a song that gives much more than 'Space And The Woods'. Listen closely for the Daft Punk takeover towards the end. It's often at times a highly unoriginal release, but at least Late Of The Pier have the music-savvy to emulate good acts.
