Laurel Collective like to mess about. So much so that trying to put across their sound with a one-word genre description is on par with evoking past memories that link Kerry Katona with a fairly successful girl band: it just ain't happening.

Like a cold glass of lemonade in this probably short-lived spell of May heat, they are refreshing and then some. With talk of flaming dogs and slow motion and a section that sounds like Adam Ant battling 1950s Americana, 'Vuitton Blues' is certainly a song that stands out. Driving guitars, clever lyrics and a sensitively used synth all contribute towards a great musical experience.

B-Side 'Krypton Factor', while not quite as good as the main event, is as diverse and carries the same sense of oddity: "in another life I'd pick you up in my tractor". What this tiny slice shows, more than anything, is that Laurel Collective may be beyond their years musically, and in their possession lies something quite exciting.
