The ubiquitous Hot Chip seem to polarise opinion into definite warring camps. On the one side there are those who feel that second single 'One Pure Thought' is the stand-out track from 'Made In The Dark' and is fast becoming the 'Blue Monday' for the blank generation. On the other side of the trench are those who can just as easily dismiss them as New Order by numbers, and as so often happens in music, never the twain shall meet.
As usual the truth lies somewhere in the middle, as 'One Pure Thought' reveals itself in all its nagging and infectious glory to be a very clever take on Bernard and the boys' finer moments. It's so primed to deliver airplay that perhaps it would've been more aptly named 'Radio One Pure Thought'. It will also pack dancefloors up and down the country. All things considered that's got to be deemed a success.
