To make your single cover like a Penguins Classic (with just enough subtle difference so you don't get sued) is inviting a bad reaction. Comparing yourselves to the greats of literature, or a gentle tribute? A 'story problem' indeed. Ho ho ho.
'Story Problem' has that strutting 4/4 time thing that daytime radio indie has, all friendly guitar lines and happy go lucky keyboards. The kind of song you could take home to your mother, and she wouldn't be all surly and subtly dropping hints of her dissatisfaction.
There's even a bit where they start doing a blokey drunken la-ing section, a bit like The Proclaimers. It feels like a scene sailing on a lake at the end of a Monarch of the Glen episode, and about as exciting. Not really worthy of its strut, it all taps along happily without going anywhere, a gentle crescendo into nothingness. All the parts work well, it just leaves the sweet taste of emptiness on the tip of your dry salty tongue.
