This is as perfect a three and a half minutes of electro as you are likely to hear all year, and possibly even next. 'The Alternative' attacks your eardrums, sounding like Delays having just discovered a darker side, or what Marilyn Manson would sound like if he ditched the thrashing guitars and learned to sing properly. The vocals hark back to the glory days of the New Romantics, with the high/low parts favoured by Simon le Bon in the classic Duran Duran singles.
IAMX has a cult following, thanks in part no doubt to the links with The Mighty Boosh, but the music should speak for itself... and it screams 'listen, dance, have a good time'. Unfortunately, major radio stations are unlikely to add this to their playlists. This is a massive shame and if there's a better electro single released this year then I will eat my copy.
