Summoning up the zeitgeist with edges of Fratellis, dashes of Arctic Monkeys and any other ramshackle indie you care to mention, 'Born A Boy' is - however much of a copycat - essentially a good track. It has the energy of a bunch of five years old let loose in the tuck shop, bouncing around the speakers in over excited glee. It is catchy, and upbeat, and probably going to be very popular. Zane likes them, you see.
'Telescopes' is a much more downtempo affair (for 2 minutes). It comes on like a comedown, too slow, evaporating the energy it follows like sun on a puddle, before suddenly it all kicks in again, with a keening desperation on show. No resemblance to any opera I know of, but my, they'll probably be big in a few months.
