To go through this review without mentioning the fact that Kylie (reportedly) rejected it would be like a Winehouse/Doherty/Britney (delete as applicable) item without mentioning their recent troubles in some clichéd manner. So, there we go - Kylie rejected it. Silly lass, for 'Ready For The Floor' is the first disco anthem of the year, with its beats and synths attack melding into a artsy dance piece for the elegant masses. The track is without a scintilla of doubt their best track to date (maybe bar 'Boy From School'), all subtle chord changes and electro trickery. The Soulwax dub reworks it into a throbbing pulse beat, the minimalism exposing the underlying groove.
M.I.A. favourite Diplo reworks 'Shake A Fist' into a jerky clap based piece, which only reminds the listener that it needs someone singing over the top. None come anywhere close to matching the clinical machine beauty of 'Ready For The Floor'.
