According to their MySpace page, Family Machine's current line up features the band, the 'extended family' and us - the listener. This ethos of inclusion and the blending of people can be felt throughout their EP 'Got It Made'. The opening title track begins with an air of mystery and uncertainty that immediately identifies Family Machine as a (unique) force to be reckoned with.

Glittery synths interweave with classic guitar riffs and a bass that connotes a smokey, bluesy bar and a sweaty dance-floor. The split personalities with which this EP suffers from are only truly understood when all four tracks have been heard. The opener switching from nice indie, to bass heavy, bluesy rhythmic sections before dropping into its acoustic close is example enough of this interesting style.

The second offering, 'The Do Song', is a perfectly harmonious, summery indie affair. Breaking with the stereotypical British 'sound of the summer', it is complete with a sing-along 'Do do do do' chorus, providing the only vocals in the near instrumental track.

The closing two tracks contrast the openers well, and both find themselves much easier to be defined. The emotive pair, 'The Way It Goes' and 'When You Come Down', reflect a potentially more sincere side to the band. The more powerful 'The Way It Goes' beautifully changes tempo as it alters from acoustic melancholy to an epic chorus-led piece. 'When You Come Down' presents a further step - nostalgia hangs over the track, emphasised by the background noise of applause. The harmonies and melodies that string the piece together are much more grounded than the other three on the EP, which only serves to display the ability of the band.
