Arctic Monkeys - Teddy Picker
More on: Arctic Monkeys

Release Date: 03/12/07
Rating:

Arctic Monkeys' non stop assault on British music resumes with 'Teddy Picker', single three from 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'. Surely the Yorkshire lads are going to need a break in '08 after such a high flying year. The mighty push hasn't faltered - 'Teddy Picker' is plastered all around our nation's capital and played constantly on TV, but surely this is the worst single they have released?

The new single is held together by a funk bass line, straight out of a Scooby Doo episode and isn't anywhere near as instant as former glories such as 'Brianstorm'. Lyrically, this is a tale of those poor, desperate kids looking for a chance of fame, and how they are basically (as Alex Turner snipes), bent over and buggered. Like most former singles the lyrics are sharp, witty and bitter, but this isn't the most original of subjects, even Just Jack got there first.
