We Are Scientists have spoken about the departure of their drummer Michael Tapper, just before their UK tour commenced.
Chris Cain revealed to We Are Scientists fansite What's The Word that the trio had discussed the possibility of Tapper leaving for months, denying it was a shock departure: "Fortunately it's not as sudden as the press release makes it seem β the three of us have been talking about the possibility for a couple of months now, and it was apparent by a few weeks ago that the thing for Michael right now is to do some of the other stuff he wants to do, some of which is musical, some not, and some is just traveling (but not having to spend half of every day in an exotic locale boxed up in a dark, empty club soundchecking)."
Cain then went on to talk about who will be stepping in for Tapper on the UK dates, Adam Aaronson from LA band High Speed Scene. Cain sang Aaronson's praises in the interview: "I don't think there's much risk that the quality of the shows is going to suffer β the guy is damn good."
He then went on to explain that the replacement will not be permanent: "Adam's not permanent β heβs getting married in January to a lovely academic named Rachel, and isn't looking to spend his first year of marriage separated."
Although We Are Scientists are now officially only Keith Murray and Chris Cain, the new album was recorded with Tapper. Read the full interview at www.wearescientists.wordpress.com.

This is upsetting, but change is inevitable. Good or bad.
